Kurt Muller has worked in television news since graduation with an MA in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario in 1993. We was a reporter with CFTO News in Toronto from 1994 to 1997 and he has spent seven years as a writer for CTV News with Lloyd Robertson and CTVNews.com. He has also worked as a freelance reporter for CHCH News in Hamilton. Kurt began his career as a general assignment reporter at the Opasquia Times, a community newspaper in The Pas, Manitoba. Kurt is currently the program coordinator for Journalism at Mohawk College.

Darryl Hartwick - Professor
Darryl is a passionate educator, journalist, and broadcaster. He began teaching at Mohawk College in 2000 after spending over 20 years in radio news reporting, and broadcast management. Before joining the faculty at Mohawk he was the director of news and programming at 900 CHML in Hamilton. He’s taught in both the journalism and radio broadcasting programs at the college.

College Students’ Association honoured Darryl with its Applied Arts Instructor
Appreciation Award in 2004, and again in 2005.
Darryl is an
active member of RTNDA – the Radio Television Digital News Association, an
organization representing the interests of Canada’s electronic journalists and
news managers. In 2011, he took a
one-year professional development leave to sharpen his writing and reporting
skills, and examine current best practices in the journalism industry.
He has a diploma in Radio and Television Arts from Canadore College and has worked as a radio news journalist at radio stations in Hamilton, Brantford, North Bay, and Huntsville.

David Smillie - Professor

He has been a field producer for TVOntario, a reporter and producer for CBC Television and CBC Radio in Ottawa, Edmonton and Toronto and was responsible for science news coverage at the Discovery Channel for five years. He has also freelanced science and travel stories for a variety of international sources. More recently, he has branched into multimedia journalism, helping produce an interactive educational website for the Royal Ontario Museum that won the 2011 Golden Trilobite Award from the Paleontological Association and the 2012 Ontario Museum Association Award of Excellence.
